The newspaper "Israel Hayom", citing informed sources, said that despite the statements of US President Donald Trump, a ceasefire in Lebanon will not happen soon. The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation announced that the army leadership confirmed that it had not received any instructions from the political leadership to prepare for a ceasefire in Lebanon. It is noteworthy that the Israeli Security Ministerial Council meeting ended at dawn on Thursday without taking a decision regarding a ceasefire in Lebanon, according to what the Axios website quoted Israeli officials as saying. Axios had quoted an American source as saying that reaching a ceasefire in Lebanon was not clearly on the table during the tripartite meeting that brought together American, Israeli, and Lebanese officials on Tuesday, April 14. The source explained that the meeting included putting forward a proposal that included measures to build confidence between the two sides, as the most prominent thing presented by the Israeli side was a ceasefire. According to the information, the Israeli ambassador and the Lebanese ambassador will return to their leaders, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Lebanese President Joseph Aoun, in order to obtain answers about the proposal before moving forward with any subsequent steps.
